I must admit that the fishing minigame in Stardew Valley is one of the weakest aspects of the gameplay, in my humble opinion. I often mod it out, but if you’re a fan of the mechanic, then more power to you. But you’ll likely find catching every fish in the game challenging, especially without the occasional helping hand. That’s why we’re here for you! Here is where to find Shad and Albacore in Stardew Valley!
How to Catch Shad in Stardew Valley
Let’s start with Shad! You can find this green fish in the river running through Pelican Town or Cindersnap Forest or on the following farms:
- Riverlands Farm
- Forest Farm
- Hill-Top Farm
Shad spawns during Spring, Summer, and Fall, but only while raining. If you hate the fishing mini-game in Stardew Valley as much as I do, you can occasionally buy Shad from Krobus on Wednesdays or the Traveling Cart on Fridays and Sundays.
Lastly, if you use Magic Bait, you can catch Shad any time, season, and regardless of weather conditions!

How to Catch Albacore in Stardew Valley
Next, let’s catch an Albacore! This oceanic fish is found in the Fall and Winter, usually in the early morning hours, at The Beach or Beach Farm. Occasionally, you’ll find one for sale in Krobus’ shop on Wednesdays and the Traveling Cart on Fridays and Sundays.
Like with the Shad, you can use Magic Bait to catch an Albacore regardless of season or time of day.
As the Albacore is slightly more challenging to catch, you’ll be happy to learn it’s not necessary for any of the Community Center bundles!
