Xbox has just revealed a new gameplay trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 at today’s Xbox Developer Direct as well as the game’s release date of May 21, 2024.
Xbox has gone to great lengths to market Hellblade 2, including a big reveal at the June 2023 Xbox showcase.
However, Ninja Theory hadn’t revealed many details about the story itself. Even the game’s Steam page had remained unexpectedly empty.
Fortunately, today’s Developer Direct shows off more of Hellblade 2 . It expands on previous gameplay trailers with more cinematics and gameplay, which make the narrative a bit clearer.
Ninja Theory, the developer of the original Hellblade hit from 2017, returned to work on the sequel with Xbox Game Studios publishing.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was a powerful, brutal, story-driven experience. It blends Viking age culture and mythology with elements of horror.
It also featured iconic performances, and Melina Juergens even won Best Performance at The Game Awards for portraying Senua.
That original Hellblade continues to maintain ‘very positive’ reviews on Steam, years after launch. So, fan expectations are high for Hellblade 2, which will continue with the next chapter of Senua’s story.
The sequel has already earned an R 18+ rating in Australia, so players can likely expect the same level of intensity.

Walking sim the game
This game looks awful why can’t Ninja Theory go and make Kung Fu Chaos 2 already they’re owned by Microsoft now they own the IP! Make it that game was actually fun unlike this depressing walking simulator crap or that online game everyone forgot.
