Rockstar Games recently revealed that the second GTA 6 trailer hit lofty heights in a dramatically short window, pulling in half a billion views across ‘all platforms’. In something of an experiment, the company made a new TikTok account and uploaded the trailer there, and within 24 hours, the gaming titan had secured more than one million followers.
That’s the power of Grand Theft Auto 6.
New Pastures
Rockstar Games hadn’t touched TikTok before releasing GTA 6 Trailer 2 just a few days ago. The all-new profile was set up after the trailer had already been released, suggesting that some social media intern at Rockstar Games took a bold leap into an all-new platform.
Since being uploaded, the trailer has garnered over a million views and a couple of hundred thousand likes, which isn’t a patch on the numbers secured on YouTube.
As I write this, the new GTA 6 trailer is nearing 100 million views on YouTube.
Following the release of the new trailer on TikTok, Rockstar has pulled in more than one million followers, marking it as the fastest-growing TikTok channel in the gaming space by far, all based on just one video about one game.
That’s impressive, but as I said, it’s the power of Grand Theft Auto.
Earlier this week, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive released the second trailer for the game, a year and a half after the first one dropped, satiating fans worldwide with almost three minutes of backstory and action-packed sequences that perfectly set the scene.
It’s not hard to see why Grand Theft Auto 6 is the most highly anticipated game in the world right now.
