Rockstar Games has published an official statement regarding the Grand Theft Auto 6 drama that struck the gaming space last week. In recent days, a slew of clips were published across social media by an unidentified entity known as ‘CYBERLEEK’, with the entire situation unfolding in dramatic fashion and being tied to some shady cryptocurrency-backed conspiracy.
Now, Rockstar Games has taken to the same social circles to address the situation that has seen several minutes of GTA 6 footage emerge online.
‘Heartbreaking For Our Team’
The recent GTA 6 leaks have left much of the community dumbfounded. Multiple clips showcasing various elements of GTA 6’s core gameplay mechanics appeared online, with what is assumed to be a ‘hacker group’ propagating footage under the guise of supporting gamers protesting the imminent loss of discs in the PlayStation space and at the launch of GTA 6.
That veil basically dissolved when it was revealed that the group was seeking immense sums of cash in exchange for fresh leaks, going so far as to post ‘paid polls’ for users to request what they could see next.
Here’s the full statement that Rockstar Games posted on social media on August 26:
Tomorrow, Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, and Netflix will release a deep-dive ‘documentary’ into GTA 6, giving us the most complete look at the game to date. It will easily trump whatever this leaker group has been able to release, as it’ll likely be cinematic, detailed, and taken from the most up-to-date build possible.
