A mysterious job listing for a new job at Riot Games has sparked speculation that Riftbound is getting a digital version.
In a now-deleted LinkedIn post, Riot is looking for a publishing lead who has experience with TCGs and with digital games, especially mobile.
The League of Legends TCG has been out for a year in China, while the English version was released on Halloween 2025.
However, there is currently no official way to play the game digitally, with the community turning to the RiftAtlas simulator website created by a fan instead.
Digital Riftbound Would Kill Legends of Runeterra
Riot already has one digital League of Legends TCG in Legends of Runeterra, which is still available on the LoL client.
LoR was released back in 2020 and then its team was downsized in 2024 as Riot refocused the game around its PvE mode, Path of Champions.
A lot of art from LoR was then used for Riftbound, though the two TCGs play rather differently.
And we know this new job listing isn’t for LoR, as the post mentions the role revolving around the execution of a “new game from the ground up.”

The job listing is still on Riot’s jobs page and describes the role as working in an “early-stage development team” for an “unannounced project.”
Rather than making a third TCG, a digital edition of Riftbound feels like the much more likely option.
There can be concerns that digital TCGs can take away from locals and other in-person events; something Riot has placed a strong focus on with various tournaments early into the card game’s existence.
Additionally, a digital Riftbound would face significant competition with a heavy market of digital TCGs already existing.
Magic: The Gathering Arena is still hugely popular, while Pokémon TCG Pocket made $1.25 billion in its first year.
And two weeks ago, Disney confirmed that it is working on launching a digital version of Lorcana.
