Riot Clarifies Problematic Valorant Champions Shanghai Desks Weren’t From Secretlab

Riot Games has released another statement to clarify that sponsor Secretlab didn’t provide the desks that caused tech issues at Valorant Champions Shanghai.

Riot asked Valorant pros to use wired mice at Champions Shanghai following multiple tech pauses delaying the major event.

Metal desks were causing wireless mice to drop connection, including a particularly controversial moment during FUT vs 100 Thieves which saw a player suddenly stop shooting

Now, Riot has moved to clarify that the desks were created by themselves rather than any of their partner brands.

Riot and Secretlab Release Statements

Following community backlash, some jumped to conclusions that the desks were provided by Secretlab.

The gaming desk and chair manufacturer then released a statement on social media, saying:

“We’ve seen some comments linking our desks to the issues players faced on stage. While we support Champions with our chairs, we are currently not the desk partner of the Valorant Champions Tour.”

Riot has since followed up with another statement to clarify the situation, stating:

“The desks currently being used at Champions were custom fabricated by Riot for the event. They were not manufactured, supplied, or sponsored by Secretlab.”

Valorant Champions Secures New Desks

It appears that Riot’s disastrous tech issues are behind them with new desks now in place for the prestigious tournament.

Leo Faria, head of Valorant esports, revealed that new desk tops had been installed ahead of today, October 2’s, matches.

Riot then allowed players to return to using wireless mice again to ensure that the issue was resolved.

Faria has since confirmed that no mouse issues have been reported since the new desk tops were implemented, though promised that Riot is still monitoring the situation closely.
