Pokémon Legends: Z-A is loaded with new Mega Evolution Pokémon to obtain, though getting your hands on Chesnaughtite to unlock Mega Chesnaught is a lengthy process.
Unlocking Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is done through several different means, which require special circumstances for the long-awaited forms of the Kalos starters that lock the door for players.
If you’re desperate to add Mega Chesnaught to your squad and want to know all the details for obtaining Chesnaughtite, we’ve got everything you need to know.
Where to Find Chesnaughtite & Get Mega Chesnaught in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Chesnaughtite is not currently available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and is instead arriving as a limited-time reward in Online Ranked Battles for Season 3.
Season 1 of Legends: Z-A, with Greninjite among the awards, is followed by Season 2, expected to begin immediately after the conclusion of Season 1 and issuing Delphoxite as a main reward, though official dates for future seasons are not confirmed.
The specific unlock requirements for Chesnaughtite are also not confirmed, though the expectation is that it will remain the same as they are for Greninjite in season 1, which requires reaching Rank K online. Remember, though, all progress is reset at the beginning of each season.
While no official dates have been issued for Season 3, Season 1 is three weeks long and future seasons should have the same duration. If that is the case, Season 2 will end around 26 November, with Season 3 beginning soon after and coming to an end before Christmas.
Will Chesnaughtite be Available Again?
Yes, Pokémon have confirmed Chesnaughtite, and any Mega Evolution Stones awarded through Online Ranked play will be distributed again in the future.
Chesnaughtite could remain an exclusive reward for Ranked play, however, as the press release revealing the reveals of the Mega Evolutions for the Kalos starters states, “Mega Stones obtainable as promotion rewards are planned to be redistributed in future seasons.”
It’s also stated that Chesnaughtite, Greninjite, and Delphoxite are not obtainable through regular gameplay, but more details will be shared in the future.
It remains to be seen whether the approach will be adjusted later in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s lifespan, or if the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC will provide another way to obtain Chesnaughtite.
