How to Play Borderlands 4 Early Using New Zealand Trick

The release of Borderlands 4 is finally upon us, and if you can’t wait a few extra hours and want to be one of the first players to gain entry and play early, the New Zealand trick may be of use.

Releasing September 12, Borderlands 4 has a staggered global release, meaning those in New Zealand and Australia, theoretically at least, will be able to play the game before anyone else. However, you don’t need to miss out.

The guide below has all the details you need to play Borderlands 4 early.

Xbox players have the easiest process to diving into Borderlands 4 early using the New Zealand trick, with only a few settings tweak required.

Given how simple it is to do, the New Zealand trick has become a popular method for diving into any title with a staggered global release early.

Follow these steps to play early.

  1. Launch your Xbox.
  2. Open the Settings Menu.
  3. Select ‘System’.
  4. Set your location to New Zealand.
  5. Restart your console.

How to Play Borderlands 4 Early on PlayStation Using New Zealand Trick

While the New Zealand trick for Borderlands 4 does work on PlayStation, the process is more complicated, and potentially more costly, than on Xbox.

Here are the steps to take to jump in early if you’re not prepared to wait any longer for Borderlands 4.

  1. Create a new PlayStation account with a different email address.
  2. Select New Zealand as your country.
  3. Purchase Borderlands 4 on the new account.

However, you will only be able to play Borderlands 4 on the new account you created until the launch time in your timezone, which may mean you lose any save progress.

Does The New Zealand Trick For Borderlands 4 Work on PC?

No, you cannot use a New Zealand trick on PC to access games like Borderlands 4 early.

Unfortunately, that means that, while some on console will be able to dive in and play, you will need to wait a while longer to dive in. Thankfully, though, you’ll soon be able to catch up and won’t be left chasing the pack for too long.

If you want to avoid spoilers, however, it’s best to stay off streaming platforms showcasing Borderlands 4 in the meantime.
