Perfect World Confirm That Second CS Major of 2027 Will Be in China; No EU CS2 Major Until at Least 2028

Chinese Tournament Organizer Perfect World has indirectly confirmed that it will host the second Counter-Strike 2 Major of 2027, doing so as part of a competition where its community guesses the hosting city of the event.

The confirmation of the news means that Europe will officially not host a Major in 2027. Combined with the PGL Singapore 2026, Counter-Strike will not host a Major in Europe for three Majors in a row.

Perfect World confirm Chinese CS2 2027 Major but stop short of sharing venue

The indirect announcement came as part of a competition which Perfect World is running for the Chinese community on their Esports App. The event celebrates nine years since the release of Counter-Strike on the Chinese client.

The competition entry terms outline the following details, encouraging players to “Guess the venue for the 2027 Major!,” adding, “The 2027 CS Major will be held in China. Which city will it be located in? Tell us your choice of host city and your reasons, and let’s see who is the best prophet.” (translated)

The post therefore confirms that the event will take place in China, but not the specific city, however it is widely expected to take place in Shanghai in a repititon of the second Major of 2024.

The news follows the official announcement of Buenos Aires as the host city of the first Major of 2027.

The event will be organized by first-time Major hosting tournament organizer FiReLEAGUE. The Argentine TO will host the FiReMAJOR Buenos Aires from May to June 2027.

The official announcement closely followed a HLTV report that pointed to Buenos Aires and Shanghai as being the host cities of the two 2027 CS Majors.

The report outlined Perfect World as the tournament organizer for the Major’s return to Shanghai, after the same TO held the Perfect World 2024 Shanghai Major in the city where Team Spirit defeated FaZe in a classic final to lift their first Major.

The report also outlined ESL and BLAST as the two bid-winning tournament organizers for 2028, but that information is yet to be confirmed.
