GiantX has announced the signing of former Fnatic top laner Óscar ‘Oscarinin’ Muñoz to its League of Legends roster for the LEC 2026 Summer Split.
The signing quickly follows the promotion of fellow Spaniard Víctor ‘Flakked’ Lirola to the senior GiantX roster as the Bot Laner for the Spanish/British organization.
GiantX move away from tried and tested formula
The decision to remove Noah and Lot follows fourth-placed finishes for GiantX both in LEC Versus 2026 and the LEC 2026 Spring split.
The roster effectively became a gatekeeper over that time, able to defeat teams like Vitality and NAVI who threatened to break into the top four, but unable to substantively challenge the big three of G2, Karmine Corp, and MKOI.
That ceiling meant that, while GiantX were in theory close to qualifying for internationals, there was very little prospect of that realistically happening.
While the long time together did allow for the GiantX roster to reach its potential, that potential had a clear ceiling with GiantX Esports Director, David Alonso, ultimately lamenting the time given to the roster.
In a statement on social media, Alonso stated, “We’ve been carrying nearly two years with practically the same group of players and, to be honest, we haven’t managed to create the environment and atmosphere to get the best out of these two players. Almost unanimously, the team was calling for a change, and that’s our failure.”
Alonso added, “Being Top 4 three splits in a row doesn’t do us any good. We have to take risks. We have to evolve much faster than we’re doing right now. It’s not a decision against Noah or against Lot. There are no hard feelings with them or anything personal/professional. It’s a decision for the team and for what we want to be.” (translated)
Flakked and Oscarinin join as GiantX target Spanish talent
GiantX announced the promotion of Flakked from GiantX iTero following a brief trial period in the roster, returning the Spaniard to Tier 1 for the first time since his removal from Team Heretics in December.
David Alonso explained, “In the middle of the Spring Split, we tested out a few days of scrims with Flakked. Which left the team with good vibes. As for Oscarinin, we’ve faced off against him enough to know his level, and our coaching staff knows him pretty well.”
Indeed, before Oscarinin’s removal from the Fnatic active roster, Oscarinin had eliminated GiantX from the previous two splits, defeating GiantX in the LEC 2025 Summer and Spring playoffs.
Still, Oscarinin has a lot to prove on his return to the LEC. The top laner’s last Tier 1 was Fnatic’s harrowing Worlds run, where the organization finished last-place in the main event, with a 0-3 record after losses to CFO, BLG, and MKOI.
However, perhaps history has been kind to Oscarinin as Fnatic has regressed even further since Oscarinin’s departure, failing to qualify for either international thus far this year, failing to even make the playoffs of LEC Spring 2026.
GiantX will be hoping that Flakked and Oscarinin’s Spanish connection will quickly integrate them as teammates and in the organization as they prepare for their first matches of the Summer split.
The good news is, the roster will have plenty of time to prepare for those matches, with GiantX debuting in Week 3 of the split against Shifters on August 7.
