In a recent post on X, GOG announced that the original Resident Evil is now available on its platform via a new bundle.
The bundle’s product page adds that “Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 will be added to your library with the Bundle purchase and will be available to play as soon as they are released.”
Although the product page confirms that both of these sequels “are planned to be released within 2024,” there is no concrete date yet.
For each individual title’s product page, GOG also elaborates on some of the key changes for its Resident Evil bundle. However, GOG does reassure fans that “our version of the game keeps all the original content intact.”
The GOG versions will feature Windows 10 and 11 support, new rendering options, full support for modern controllers, and more. There will also be an improved DirectX game renderer.
Some quality-of-life improvements include new cutscene timing, registry settings, and all four localizations.
The Resident Evil franchise to continues to thrive, with Resident Evil Village hitting 10 million units sold globally.
Fans are currently looking forward to the next core installment. However, recent claims from reliable leaker Dusk Golem suggest that Resident Evil 9 isn’t coming any time soon. They did say that Capcom is working on the Code Veronica and Zero remakes next.
