It seems that Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s developers are moving up the title’s release date, with several retailers listing a new September release date.
If you caught any of the recent announcements during the latest Summer Game Fest, you likely noticed that many games are now aiming for a September release window. This decision has been made due to one reason: GTA 6 is coming out in November. Now, Capcom has apparently moved up the release date for Onimusha to avoid competing with the crowd.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s New Release Date Set for September 4
Spotted by Cheap Ass Gamer on BlueSky, several retailers have listed a new release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, including PNP Games, Best Buy, and more. The initial release date was set for September 25, and it has now been moved up to September 4 in these listings, creating space between games coming later that month. However, there have been no official announcements from Capcom or Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s accounts.
If this is true, it makes a lot of sense, especially considering that many games are scheduled to release within the same timeframe. To provide some context, several highly anticipated games have chosen September as their launch month. The month kicks off with The Blood of Dawnwalker on September 3, which is very close to the new release date for Onimusha. Next, we have Marvel’s Wolverine arriving on September 15.

At the end of the month, coinciding with Onimusha’s original release date, two more major titles are set to debut: Control: Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall, both releasing on September 24. September 2026 appears to be an exciting month for gamers, but it is not for developers and publishers, as they need their titles to stand out against such heavy competition.
