It has been claimed by a prominent Resident Evil insider that Capcom has no plans to release another remake in 2024, and that the game that will ‘sell millions’ that’s being announced by the end of 2023 is something else entirely. That last part that came out of a financial presentation from Capcom itself, and within the next month, we can expect to see whatever that is revealed in full – and then these ‘millions of sales’ can start rolling in.
Hold Fire on Resident Evil
To date, we’ve seen the following Resident Evil games remade by Capcom:
- Resident Evil (technically remade twice)
- Resident Evil 2
- Resident Evil 3
- Resident Evil 4
Most recently, we saw the Resident Evil 4 remake hit the market, and it was an overnight sensation, launching to a remarkably positive reception back in March 2023. Before that, it was Resi 3 in 2020, Resi 2 in 2019, and the original Resident Evil remake dropped waaaaaay back in 2002.
There’s no set path, but the momentum seemed to be building around these remakes. However, according to Dusk Golem, a trusted Resident Evil insider, there’s no remake coming in 2024. In the coming weeks, Capcom will announce some other monumental title, and everyone’s money is on a Monster Hunter game. Either that or a resurgence of some old, forgotten title, like Dino Crisis.
