A new announcement from Hello Games reveals that No Man’s Sky will be released for iPhones and iPads on October 28, 2026.
Hello Games released its survival space-exploration sandbox title for PlayStation 4 and Windows in 2016. Since then, they have continuously expanded to include current-gen consoles, the Switch 2, and several other devices. It appears the developers have made significant technological advances, optimizing the game to run on iPhones.
No Man’s Sky’s Beginning is Free-to-Try on iPhones and iPads
A new announcement confirms that players can download No Man’s Sky on their iPhones and iPads later this month. The game has been rebuilt for touch, letting players explore every aspect of the game in depth. It also supports controllers and mouse and keyboard, adding more ways to play on your devices. The ports will also receive 10 years of updates, including the latest Cosmos update, which lets you build and customize your space stations.
Moreover, the game has been described as having console-level graphics and will be generated at runtime, meaning that “the environment you are exploring is being created by the device you’re playing on.” There are some limitations, though: Planetary Settlements is supported on iPhone 15 Pro and above, and multiplayer is not supported. The game will be playable on iPhone 11 and 3rd generation iPad Air and above.
The developers have also put a lot of work into battery life and thermal management for No Man’s Sky’s iPhone and iPad port, letting players enjoy comfortable long sessions. The App Store listing shows the game size is 3.8 GB, and players can pre-order it now. Additionally, the beginning of the game is free to try, so you can make an informed decision before purchasing.
