Nintendo Switch Online Adding New Features For Nintendo 64

Nintendo is set to add a number of new features to Nintendo Switch Online for the Nintendo 64, including one highly requested feature for players.

Starting June 5, three features are coming to Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics.

The first, which will be available to all users on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, is customizable controls. With the update, players can see what each button does in the specific game. You’ll also be able to reassign buttons to better suit your comfort level.

The other two features are available exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 owners: CRT filter and Rewind.

Starting with the CRT filter, it allows players to “recreate the look of a CRT television”. Toggling it on and off can be done right in the settings under “Game Screen”.

Lastly, the new Rewind feature lets players quickly go back to a moment in time to replay a specific area of a game. Make a mistake in a mission in Star Fox 64? Rewind back to the time just before you screwed up.

Nintendo 64 classics are available for those with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The service currently costs $49.99 per year, and includes Nintendo 64 games along with Game Boy Advanced and Sega Genesis classics. For the Nintendo Switch 2, it will also include a collection of Nintendo GameCube games.

What do you think of the new features coming for Nintendo 64 on Nintendo Switch Online on June 5? What about two of the new features being exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2? Let us know down below, and join the discussion in the official Insider Gaming forums.
