The latest United States (US) video game hardware sales data for September 2025 has been released, and the Nintendo Switch 2 continues its impressive run since launch.
According to industry firm Circana, the Switch 2 has led the hardware sales to jump 24% to $324 million year over year in September. In terms of year-to-date numbers, hardware sales are up 20% to $3.18 billion.
The continued success of the Switch 2 should come as no surprise. A recent report has even suggested that Nintendo has requested an increase in console production to 25 million units over the next six months.
The next official update on Switch 2 unit sales is expected to come during the company’s upcoming earnings call on November 4.
Away from Nintendo, the PlayStation 5 (PS5) maintained its second spot in terms of both units and dollars sold. The Xbox Series, as expected, finished third. Those systems, however, have seen “double-digit year-on-year percentage declines”.
Moving on to accessories, those fell by 10% year-over-year to $197 million. Year to date has sales are down 6% to $1.83 billion. Looking at specific hardware, the midnight black PS5 DualSense wireless controller was the best-selling accessory for September, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro remains the best-selling accessory for the year.
