Nier: Automata developers have announced that they have shipped and digitally sold over 10 million copies.
We haven’t heard much about the Nier series beyond the themed DLC for Stellar Blade in 2024 and the director’s statement that AI will replace all game creators within the next 50 years. Now, we finally have some sales numbers and a tease for what’s next in the mainline series.
Nier: Automata Developers Tease ‘To be Continued’
A post on X (formerly Twitter) by the official NieR_JPN account reveals that NieR: Automata has reached a new milestone: selling and shipping 10 million units globally. To celebrate the occasion, the developers have also released a video looking back on the journey, and towards the end, there’s a tease. After showcasing moments from the game, anime, and real-life celebrations, the video ends with the words “Nier: Automata to be continued…”
NieR: Automata is a hack-and-slash RPG developed by Square Enix and Platinum Games. Platers follow the story of androids 2B, 9S, and A2 as they battle against powerful machines to reclaim the world. The Nier series is a spin-off of the Drakengard franchise, both created by Yoko Taro. Now NieR has become a popular franchise in its own right, with games like Replicant, Automata, and more.
In other news, Dying Light recently celebrated hitting 50 million players. Additionally, ARC Raiders has surpassed 14 million copies sold and attracts 6 million players each week.
