A New Wolfenstein Game Could Be On The Way

It appears that Bethesda could be ready to revisit the Wolfenstein franchise with a new game.

According to a report from Jez Corden at Windows Central, Bethesda is gearing up for what should be a big 40th birthday celebration. Not only is it possible that ID software returns to series like Quake and Hexen, but there could be something big from one of the studio’s oldest IPs.

Corden reports that he’s heard that Wolfenstein 3 is “on the cards” from the studio. This would likely coincide with the upcoming Wolfenstein TV show from Amazon.

The show was announced back in June 2025, though no details on its premise or when it could air were revealed.

As far as the new Wolfenstein game, it wasn’t explicitly reported which studio would handle development. However, MachineGames has developed, in some fashion, the last five games in the series. They’ve also, somewhat, recently teased the future of the franchise.

In a documentary video released back in September, game director Jerk Gustaffson said that the Wolfenstein reboot that began in 2014 was planned as a trilogy.

“I think this is important to say, because we have always seen this as a trilogy,” he said at the time. “So that journey, for B.J., even during those first weeks at id when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for, at least, that character; What will happen in the second one, what will happen in the third one.

I think that’s important to say, because – at least, I hope – that we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.”

The last Wolfenstein games to release was the spin-off Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the VR title Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot in 2019. The last mainline game came in 2017 with the launch of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
