New Stellar Blade Details Revealed

Stellar Blade was first shown off as Project Eve during a Sony State of Play event in September 2021 and since then it has been one of the most highly anticipated PlayStation 5 games. A 2023 release date was announced last year but so far there has been little news regarding when it will launch. Although the release date for Stellar Blade still remains elusive, Sony has revealed some new details as we head closer to its eventual launch.

It has now been confirmed in the store listing for Stellar Blade that it will be a single-player PlayStation 5 exclusive with no multiplayer aspect to the game. This will be great news for some players as there will likely be no microtransactions and season passes to contend with. Although we haven’t quite gone into the fully digital age, the post-apocalyptic sci-fi action RPG will feature a physical version of the game which will ship on a disc rather than a code, which will be great news for players as many have been worried that we could be seeing the end of physical media with the news that Alan Wake 2 will be digital only on all platforms.

New details regarding the plot and gameplay have also been revealed. The Stellar Blade story centers around Earth being destroyed by a malevolent force called NA:tive and as Eve pieces “together the mysteries of the past as she explores the ruins of human civilization, she realizes that her mission is far from straightforward. In fact, almost nothing is as it seems.” Expect the gameplay to be blistering fast with epic boss battles, with a vibe similar to titles such as Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, and Devil May Cry.

As of right now, Sony hasn’t given a release date for the game, only that it has been “announced,” so it is unclear whether the 2023 release window still stands or it will be pushed back to 2024.
