Activision Confirms Resurgence Map, Delays Season Two

It was just yesterday that we covered a leak suggesting that delays would befall Season Two, pushing back the date that it would drop for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0.

It turns out those leaks were correct, as Activision has just stepped out on Twitter to confirm that, yes, Season Two will be delayed until February 15th. However, that wasn’t the most important piece of news to take away from the announcement.

There’s good news for fans of the Resurgence game mode on the original Warzone platform. When Season Two drops, it’ll bring an all-new Resurgence experience on a fresh, small map.

Resurgence Is Returning to Warzone

Since the beginning of December 2022, there have been rumours circulating online regarding the existence or development of a ‘small-form’ map in Warzone 2.0. There were widespread claims that a Resurgence-style map would be landing on the platform in the near future, and it’d take on a similar size and structure to Rebirth Island or Fortune’s Keep.

Moments ago, Activision revealed that the Season Two content update would be delayed by two weeks, dropping on the 15th of February, but it also stated, quite clearly, that it’ll bring with it a ‘brand new small map’.

At one point, when Caldera had dashed everyone’s hopes and dreams to pieces, Rebirth Island became the most popular way to play Call of Duty Warzone. Recently, we reported on the news that Warzone 2.0 has been losing players left, right, and centre – could this be a literal resurgence for the platform?

Weeks ago, we covered a leak that may have uncovered some elements from this new Warzone 2.0 map. While we wait for Activision to drop something that confirms the identity of this map, we’ll be sitting and wondering how on the nose we were with our predictions.

When Season Two drops on the 15th of February, Activision has confirmed that the new map will be joined by Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 2, new maps, modes, and weapons. What a time to be a Call of Duty fan.
