In a segment at San Diego Comic-Con, Horror Inc.’s Robbie Barsamian revealed that a new ‘sequel movie and new sequel game’ are in the works at the firm. This announcement was made in conjunction with the dropping of a teaser for Sweet Revenge, the first new movie in the ‘Jason Universe’ in more than 15 years.
Sweet Revenge will premiere on August 13, 2025, but as for the ‘new sequel game’, absolutely nothing is known beyond the fact that it’s coming.
‘They’re Both Coming’
During a panel at SDCC, Horror Inc. VP Robbie Barsamian confirmed that a new Friday the 13th game is on the way. In a clip captured by Bloody Disgusting, it was said:
I can tell you that a new seqel movie and new sequel game are at the top of our list. It’s where most of our energy is going right now. And I can tell you finally we’re in a position to deliver on that.
While we’re not officially announcing anything with our partners today, both are coming. They’re both in the works and they’re both coming.
At the tail end of last year, IllFonic, the developer behind Friday the 13th: The Game, underwent layoffs, and shortly after, the servers for the game went offline forever, stripping the game from the market.
It’s rare to see Jason Voorhees surface in a video game, and the 2017 multiplayer title offered a Dead by Daylight-style setting that players enjoyed, until the game sadly dwindled to nothing.
Recently, a gore-filled trailer for the new Hellraiser game was revealed, bringing another cult classic horror icon into the spotlight after many years. Fans are hopeful that a new Jason Universe video game would be something in the same ilk: a single-player, horror-focused title with survival elements and violent, bloody sequences.
