Netflix’s Multiplayer Squid Game Title Gets 2024 Release Window

In a letter to shareholders regarding second quarter earnings, Netflix confirmed that its video game adaptation of Squid Game will launch “later this year.”

The letter further clarifies that the multiplayer game will coincide with the premiere of the Squid Game series’ new season.

However, the second season of the show still doesn’t have a release date. So, at this time, there’s nothing concrete for the video game either. But the game is now due by the end of the year. Season two of Netflix’s Squid Game show will “follow hero Gi-hun as he abandons his plans to go to the United States.”

In the same letter, Netflix also elaborated on its “separate” gaming slate schedule. It specifically addressed interactive games for Netflix Stories. The letter states that “starting in July we’ll launch about one new title per month like Emily in Paris and Selling Sunset.”

Netflix made an ambitious push into gaming in December 2023, confirming there were nearly 90 games in development.

Some gamers may not realize Netflix offers gaming options. However, its GTA Trilogy reportedly reached 30 million downloads as of last month.

Netflix also has a variety of shows based on video games coming soon. That includes the animated Tomb Raider series starring Hayley Atwell, and the Minecraft animated series. Its Minecraft series is unrelated to the live-action film, which recent rumors suggest might have a ‘creepy’ look.
