Marvel Rivals Players Warned Against Deliberately Throwing Matches

In a lengthy statement published on social media, the NetEase team behind Marvel Rivals has issued a stern warning. They’re targeting players trying to maliciously disrupt the competitive experience of Marvel Rivals by deliberately throwing matches. It was revealed that steps are being taken to combat this concerning new trend.

The team said that the ‘principles of fair competition’ have been boosted with a recent enhancement to the game’s regulations, all in a bid to clamp down on third-party-influenced match throwing.

Marvel Rivals Players Told Off For Throwing

The sizeable statement published to social media reads as a tough telling-off to malicious Marvel Rivals players:

We have recently identified a disturbing trend within our community: “incentivized throwing,” where players are enticed by third-party bounties to deliberately sabotage matches. This behavior not only undermines the integrity of our game but also tarnishes the experience for honest players who are committed to fair competition.

In light of this, we want to make our position clear: We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of malicious disruption. To combat this issue, we are implementing a specialized investigation protocol focused on identifying and addressing negative gameplay linked to these external bounties. Accounts found to be violating our policies will face serious repercussions, including, but not limited to, permanent bans.

We strongly advise players against jeopardizing their valuable accounts and hard-earned progress for the sake of temporary incentives.

NetEase went on to explain that regulations around negative gameplay have been tightened. This means that players participating in these actions, which include ‘malicious idling’, will ‘incur significant penalties’. It’s dependent on other players reporting them, and NetEase’s systems subsequently validating those reports, of course.

The company encouraged users to report deliberate throwing, suggesting that it’s a crucial step towards rectifying this trend and promoting a positive gaming environment.
