A new preview of the Wave One update for NBA The Run, which drops next week, is live. The Wave One update adds championship belts to earn with each legend, alongside new gameplay changes and five iconic 2000s players.
This free update will feature five iconic players from the turn of the millennium. Those players are: Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tracy McGrady. You can unlock each player with 5,000 CRED, or, if you prefer, purchase them as DLC for $9.99, but that would defeat the free-update aspect.
NBA The Run Update Adds Legends, Drive Cam and More
In addition to adding the Legends, the game will also add Drive Cam, a practice mode, and a new court. They’re also adding the ability for each player to earn championship belts. This will add to the game’s longevity and replayability.

Gameplay Improvements
- The team also touched on a number of gameplay changes and improvements in the works including a significant goaltending nerf, player changes (see below), and more advanced off-the-heezy animations – including situations where defenders can get hit multiple times or even get dropped
- There’s more to unpack here, including new driving layups, standing dunks, alley-oops and more, and we’ll be taking a deeper look at these gameplay changes later this week
