New Fan-Favorite Horror Characters Could be Coming to Mortal Kombat 1

A new tweet by Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has suggested that some new fan-favorite horror characters could soon be coming to Mortal Kombat 1.

The tweet shows question marks over several new horror characters that are yet to be introduced into Mortal Kombat, which include Pinhead, Michael Myers, Chucky, the Saw Puppet, and Ghostface.

Perhaps the most likely character from the image that could come to Mortal Kombat 1 is Ghostface, who was recently found to be within the game files of the game.

Ghostface, who’s the main killer in the Scream franchise has become one of the most prominent characters in horror films, with the recent Scream VI film generating $169 million at the box office. The success of Ghostface has transitioned into subsequent TV shows, games, and spoofs such as Scary Movie (apologies for the header image, but it’s funny).

While we could still be a few weeks out from some form of announcement, it’s possible that Ghostface could be announced for Mortla Kombat 1 this Halloween.

Mortal Kombat 1 is out now on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

  • It leaked already Cyrax is the unknown girl so a gender swap and Sektor will be in the story expansion alongside her. Ghostface is basically confirmed though it’s a stupid choice since it’s just a person in a mask who can die easily. Noob will also be in the story so Bi-Han dies or it’s his dad. Other rumor is T-1000 from Terminator is a guest. Travis Scott’s character hasn’t been shown yet so he’s probably Kotal or Sektor maybe if Cyrax is a girl now. This games hype is dead not really looking good. Still no Onaga so he’s probably just going to appear as a NPC not playable. Ed even makes it seem like no Onaga he’s even shown he really doesn’t care much for the 3D era with most characters still missing. Kai is the only character from MK4 still not to appear in a NRS game and Jarek. People are shutting on Megan but JCVD is worse he really didn’t want to be there and his accent made it worse, let’s not forget Ronda either but she and Megan sound way better than him. How much did these actors and guest characters cost in addition to the game?

    • They should have just made Injustice 3 instead of this. By the time they do make it the game will flop. The strike will delay support for this game as well. Ed doesn’t seem to understand these fandoms with actors he didn’t seem to understand why fans loved Kevin Conroy and acts like it will be nothing replacing him. JCVD was weird it was too late he just wanted money, Megan is smoking but voice direction and design of Nitara was awful. The Switch port which shouldn’t have been made.

  • With cutbacks in gaming and a potential strike NRS could face layoffs, this content could be scrapped last minute, or Zaslav sells them and/or WB Games off. If Tekken 8 is in Unreal 5 I don’t know why they couldn’t upgrade as well I mean they had 4 years.
