Mortal Kombat 1 Leaks as a Reboot of The Franchise

Popular dataminer and leaker @billbil_kun has revealed that the next Mortal Kombat is a reboot of the series and will be called Mortal Kombat 1. Insider Gaming was also able to independently verify the claims.

The leak reveals that the next Mortal Kombat game will be called Mortal Kombat 1 and will release in three different editions.
  • Standard Edition: $69.99 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
  • Premium Edition: $109.99 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
  • Collector’s Edition: $249.99 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)

Rumors began to circulate that the next Mortal Kombat game will be a reboot of the series following official teasers. Yesterday, a cryptic teaser showed a clock slowly ticking from 9. However, once the clock reaches 11, the clock begins to stutter and skips over 12 entirely to land on one.

As of yet, it’s not entirely clear on what the reboot means for the series, but if information has started to be datamined, it means an announcement is imminent. In fact, it’s entirely plausible that the game could be announced at this months rumoured PlayStation Showcase.

Billbil_kun also revealed that despite the game seemingly only releasing on current generation consoles, the game will also release on the Nintendo Switch. The standard edition will be priced at $59.99.
