More Than 200 Pokémon Returning in Scarlet and Violet, Datamines Suggest

A large number of older Pokémon may be added to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in DLC, according to a recent datamine.

The list of 223 Pokémon from previous titles in the series was uncovered by dataminer mattyoukhana_. They spotted that the 1.2.0 update for the game had removed hidden Pokédex entries for a significant number of creatures from previous games in the series.

The Pokémon which seem to have vanished include those recently confirmed as joining the Paldea region, such as Ninetails, Shiftry, Seel, and Metagross.

What makes this news exciting is that, as mattyoukhana_ notes, the same was done with Pokédex entries for Pokémon Sword and Shield during the games’ 1.20 update. All the Pokémon with references removed in that case eventually made their way to the game as part of DLC updates.

The extensive list—which can be read here—includes Pokémon from across the series history, including all starters except for those from Black & White’s Unova region. Interestingly, it doesn’t contain any legendary Pokémon either. That could be due to them being planned to arrive in special events such as time-limited raids.

While the list is exciting for series fans, it shouldn’t be taken as a guarantee that all of these Pokémon will join Scarlet and Violet. It’s likely that many are planned, but the total list could change over time.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s next DLC segment, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, is due to arrive in two stages later this year. Part 1: The Teal Mask releases in Fall. It sends trainers on a school trip to a region called Kitakami.. Part 2: The Indigo Disk will release in Winter. Its story sees the player as an exchange student at a place called Blueberry academy.

Which Pokémon would you like to return in Scarlet and Violet?
