Modern Warfare 3 Code Confirms It’s Essentially MW2 DLC
Modern Warfare 3 game code that has been found in the PlayStation database suggests that this year’s title is nothing more than MW2 DLC.
UPDATE – In a statement to CharlieINTEL, an Activision spokesperson has confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will be priced at $70. “As stated in numerous Activision Blizzard quarterly conference calls, Modern Warfare III is a premium release. It will be price accordingly at $70 USD,” they said.
In collaboration with PlayStationSize on Twitter, Insider Gaming has been given a deep dive into the code of this year’s Call of Duty title. Call of Duty has always faced criticism for being the same product every year and whilst there’s no denying it’s a winning formula, this year’s title is slightly different from the rest. What’s particularly interesting this year is that Modern Warfare 3 content will be coming via add-ons for MW2.
In addition, it appears that BETA codes for Modern Warfare 3 use the same concept ID as Modern Warfare 2, meaning they are basically last year’s game codes, just reissued. The code also seems to suggest that Modern Warfare 2 will change to a Call of Duty Hub, which will display MW2, MW3, and Warzone in one menu.
Of course, if you’ve been following the news on this year’s installment then the news might not be at all surprising. It’s already been confirmed officially that this year’s title will ‘Carry Forward’ the likes of weapons, camos, and progression from last year’s game.
The rumors is that Modern Warfare 3 will cost $70 and whilst that’s an industry-wide acceptable price for a AAA game today, it’s going to be hard to question Activision if that price point is true.
