Modern Warfare 2 is Already Close to Out-Selling Vanguard After 2 Weeks

A new report by GI.biz has claimed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is already close to out-selling Call of Duty Vanguard in Europe after just two weeks. In addition, the UK monthly charts suggest that Modern Warfare 2 launch sales are up 92% over Vanguard in the UK.

The report, which uses primarily GSD data suggests that Modern Warfare 2 is already the third best-selling game of the year, just behind Elden Ring. 11.9 million video games were sold across Europe last month, led by Call of Duty.

GSD data used by GI.biz is provided by retailers and publishers, however, actual figures cannot be published.

Earlier this week, Activision reported that Modern Warfare 2 had become its fastest-selling Call ofDuty to date, making $1 billion in sales in just 10 days. The previous record was set by Call of Duty Black Ops 2 in 2012, which passed $1 billion in 15 days.

It was also said that Modern Warfare 2 is the highest-grossing entertainment opening of 2022 and expects continuing growth with the release of Warzone 2 and the DMZ on November 16.

“Our developers, along with our entire Activision Blizzard team, are the backbone of our unwavering commitment to serve our hundreds of millions of players around the world,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard.

“I am so proud of the extraordinary efforts of our Call of Duty teams and the records they have achieved with Modern Warfare II. Connecting the world through joy, fun, and the thrill of competition is the key to our success. Modern Warfare II has provided this to millions of players faster and with greater satisfaction than ever before”, he continued.
