Microsoft Issues Statement on Black Myth: Wukong Xbox Delay

In a new report from journalist Jez Corden of Windows Central, a Microsoft spokesperson issued a statement about the Black Myth: Wukong Xbox delay.

The spokesperson reportedly gave Corden the following statement:

“We’re excited for the launch of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We can’t comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders, but we remain focused on making Xbox the best platform for gamers, and great games are at the center of that.”

The statement is careful to remain vague, and it does not address concerns over the Xbox Series S console.

Corden does not confirm anything, either. But they speculate that by “reading between the lines,” it’s possible Xbox is referring to an exclusivity deal.

Fans originally expected Black Myth: Wukong to release on Xbox at launch, alongside PC and PlayStation. However, developer Game Science recently confirmed the delay for Black Myth: Wukong’s Xbox version.

In an FAQ section update, the devs explained that “we are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X|S version to meet our quality standards.”

Black Myth: Wukong is set to release on August 20, 2024, and pre-orders are available now. During the Summer Game Fest 2024 event, the devs revealed all of the pre-order bonuses.

  • These idiots at Microsoft forced laborware onto the consumer and developers, and required that developer make sure their games work just as well on the X as the series S. We’ve already had delays due to this Series S bullshit and now to save face from their own incompetence Microsoft tries weaponizing their PR Speak and consumerbase trying to shift blame onto Sony. Microsoft is a freaking joke.
