Metroid Prime is finally on Nintendo Switch. No, it’s not the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4. Rather, it’s a remaster of the original Metroid Prime for the Gamecube.
Retailing for $39.99, the game is available now in the Nintendo eShop. A physical release will also be available in the future.
Metroid Prime Remastered features a number of updates over the original. Players will be able to utilize twin-stick controls for better movement as well as HD visuals and improved sound.
Earlier in the day I had heard rumblings from a couple of sources that Nintendo was set to shadow-drop of a “popular” game that would be making its debut on the Switch. That game turned out to be Metroid Prime Remastered.
As far as the future of the series, Metroid Prime 4 remains in development. The game was first announced back in 2017 but has seen few updates since. Nintendo didn’t mention it once during Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct.
The last statement on the game was that the company was “working hard” on the game.
“Currently, we’re working hard on the latest game in the Metroid Prime series, Metroid Prime 4, which we previously announced,” Nintendo said back in 2021.
