Metro 2039 Release Window Officially Confirmed

4A Games and Deep Silver have finally revealed Metro 2039, and it is all set to release in Winter 2026.

The developers announced they would unveil the highly anticipated installment of the popular Metro series this week, and the day has finally arrived. We did receive some leaks ahead of the official reveal that divulged some story details, but now we have a much better idea of what to expect.

Metro 2039 Arrives This October

The Xbox First Look event unveiled a new trailer that confirmed the release window for Metro 2039. The developer insights for Metro 2039 confirmed that Hunter is not only alive but also leading the Novoreich group, which is a group made up of all underground factions and station communities. The game will be played through a new voiced protagonist, the Stranger, was introduced, who has to return to the Metro after swearing to never go back there.

The developers also spoke about a system called Frozen Stories, where players understand the story of a location by looking at the surroundings. Everything in this world happens for a reason, and those reasons can be found. The new system encourages exploration as it tells you the different stories of Metro 2039, without a word being said. The reveal event ended with a first in-game look at Metro 2039 which you can check out below:
