PlayStation State of Play had its own Konami section this time around, announcing Metal Gear Solid Master Collection 2’s release date first.
Since the arrival of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1, players have been eagerly waiting for Vol 2 series, which will finally provide them with the conclusion of the series on current-gen consoles. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection 2 will be released on August 27, 2026, and will include loads of content for players to enjoy on current-gen consoles.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection 2 Includes MGS 4 and Peacewalker
Announced during the State of Play event, the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection 2 will arrive with 2 games when it releases in August 2026: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (+ screenplay book/master book MGS 4 database) and Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker (+ screenplay book/master book). Additionally, players will receive Metal Gear Ghost Babel and Digital Soundtrack Vol. 2 as bonus content. Check out the new trailer below:
The Metal Gear series producer, Noriaki Okamura, revealed that the Master Collection Volume 1 is also getting a final update. The original Metal Gear Solid, which was released for PlayStation 1, will feature high-resolution options for sharper visuals and clearer text. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will also feature higher-resolution graphics. The updates for the Master Collection Volume 1 start rolling out today. Additionally, to celebrate the occasion, there’s a 50% discount on Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.
In other news, Metal Gear Solid’s ‘Solid Snake’ is coming to Rainbow Six Siege as an operator. Additionally, Hideo Kojima and Vince Zampella almost created a first-person Metal Gear Solid game.
