How to Get Mega Sceptile in Pokémon Legends: Z-A—Sceptilite Location, Explained

More Mega Evolution Pokémon are arriving in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including the Hoenn starters, but obtaining Sceptilite and Mega Sceptile is not a quick task through in-game progression.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A brought the Hoenn starters back into the fold with their Mega Evolutions in the Mega Dimension DLC, although you don’t need to own the DLC to obtain any of the returning Pokémon added to the game.

Nevertheless, if you’re on the hunt for Mega Sceptile and the Sceptilite Mega Stone required to unlock it, Insider Gaming has all the details.

Where to Find Sceptilite & Get Mega Sceptile in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Sceptilite in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is only obtainable through competing in Ranked Online during Season 5 of the game, with the exact dates yet to be announced.

Each Season in Pokémon Legends: Z-A lasts for around three weeks, with Season 4 kicking off on December 18. Based on that, Season 5 and the distribution of Sceptilite is expected to begin in mid-January, and the requirements will likely be the same as previous seasons, requiring Rank S to earn the Mega Stone.

Before Season 5 begins, it will be impossible to obtain Mega Sceptile legitimately, although you won’t need to purchase the Mega Dimension DLC to earn the item, or to have Sceptile on your team. Any player can receive Sceptile, or any other Pokémon added in the DLC, through trading.

Will Sceptilite be Available Again?

Yes, like all the other Mega Stones distributed through Ranked Online, will be available again in the future, likely following a similar redemption path.

In Season 3, both Greninjite and Delphoxite, the main rewards from the first two seasons, were distributed at much lower ranks. By the time Season 5 comes around, it’s likely that Chesnaughtite and Baxcalibrite, the main rewards in Season 3 and 4, will be added to the prize pool.

Obtaining Sceptilite and Mega Sceptile through traditional gameplay is unlikely, however, as it seems the intention is to keep some Mega Stones locked behind Ranked. This also means you won’t be able to obtain all the Mega Evolution Pokémon in Legends: Z-A without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
