McDonald’s Launches Gamer Menu With Anti-AFK Tool in Türkiye

McDonald’s in Türkiye has launched a new menu centered around gamers, and the unique hook is a tool that is reminiscent of the brand’s iconic golden arches that players hook around their controllers to prevent them from drifting away from the action.

Unfortunately, for gamers and burger lovers across the globe, the menu and device are only available in Türkiye right now. The “Pro Gamer Menu” itself features a Big Mac, medium fries, a medium Coke, and an 8-piece order of onion rings.

Stay Away from AFK with McDonald’s’ Archie

This new menu emphasizes the importance of ensuring that taking a break for food doesn’t result in being kicked out of the game or interrupting your or other players’ progress. The solution is “Archie,” a tool that was designed by the TBWA\Istanbul marketing agency.

The item, which looks like the McDonald’s logo, wraps around the analog sticks of any controller with side-by-side thumbsticks and prevents you from being booted for being away.

“Being away from the screen during online gameplay—especially in high-intensity moments—can directly disrupt the flow of the game. That is why many players turn to different workarounds. We transformed this behavior into a gamer insight and made Archie part of the McDonald’s experience by offering it as a gift to customers who order the Pro Gamer Menu,” the press release for this menu notes.

It’s definitely a fun collector’s item, and if it works out, perhaps they will sell more or sell them globally. For now, McDonald’s Türkiye is simply looking for how to make an impact with creative campaigns.
