How To Access March of Giants Playtest—Pioneer Test Schedule, Explained

Ubisoft’s stab at the MOBA space in ‘March of Giants’ is preparing to enter a testing phase, and you can try out the game very soon. Although it’s region-locked, there are still opportunities for umpteen players to get stuck into what will be the first public playtest of March of Giants, which has been dubbed hte ‘Pioneer Playtest’ to recognize that fact.

March of Giants is a free-to-play MOBA that seeks to disrupt the monopoly held within the genre’s bubble by the likes of League of Legends and Dota 2. You probably can’t name many other MOBAs except for those, but Ubisoft is hoping that it can shake things up a bit.

Read on to learn how to access the March of Giants playtest when it goes live this month.

When Does The March of Giants Playtest Start?

The first March of Giants playtest, known as Pioneer, goes live on October 7th, exclusively on Steam. It’s set to run until October 18th, and during that window, players can explore the game’s matchmaking systems, get to grips with this MOBA’s unique mechanics, and determine how it works and compares against the likes of League of Legends.

If you participated in the previous playtests, which were held almost behind closed doors, then you’ll automatically qualify for access to this round of tests.

How to Access March of Giants Pioneer Playtest

To get access to the playtest, you’ll need to hop over to March of Giants’ Steam page and request access. It’s that simple – you’ll need to identify the ‘Join the March of Giants Playtest’ section, click the ‘Join the Playtest’ button, and wait for October 7th to come around.

How Does March of Giants Work?

It’s important to stress that March of Giants isn’t trying to ape League of Legends. Ubisoft Montreal has assembled something unique, building a MOBA that’s focused on sprawling battlefields populated by military machines and towering constructs.

It’s a 4v4, three-lane MOBA (which might feel familiar) that challenges competing teams to break through enemy fortifications, destroy Bastions, and wipe out opposing forces. You’ll be a Giant leading a contingent of soldiers, which behaves like a thrashing creep wave of sorts.

As you play, you can lean on Battleworks features to summon more soldiers, construct tactical elements like trenches, and deploy heavy support units. It has bosses, vehicular combat, a resource-gathering loop, and a roster of hero characters that’s already growing.
