Soulslike originators and imitators dominate the action-gaming scene. While this isn’t bad, the release of Lost Soul Aside could be a blessing in disguise for lovers of classic action titles with a sharp hack ‘n’ slash edge.
Let me preface by saying I need a Souls game every once in a while. Something to grind me down, make me feel useless, but make me feel like a God once I fell a great opponent—after an hour or two. I need insignificant mobs to cut me down and reduce me to human rubble. But even I’ll admit the genre has become saturated, so much so the art of a hack ‘n’ slash has died.
The Ninja Gaiden 2 Remake and the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 4 are almost remnants of a genre that used to be. But the tide could be turning with the release of Lost Soul Aside.
When Does Lost Soul Aside Come Out?

Did you know the thought process and development of Lost Soul Aside began in 2016? So this has been cooking for a while. The game’s director and company CEO Yang Bing has described Lost Soul Aside in a blog as: “Fluid, fast, and stylish that you never want to put the controller down. Kaser’s shape-shifting weapon adapts to your combat style. Are you a precise swordsman? A fan of devastating ranged attacks? Maybe you like high-speed mobility? Whatever your preference, the different type of weapons will serve you well.”
There’s a distinct and almost unmistakable Devil May Cry vibe about Lost Soul Aside. With less attention being given to DMC, Lost Soul Aside has the chance to fill a void.
Lost Soul Aside Platforms
Expect to pick up a copy of Lost Soul Aside on either the PlayStation 5 or PC.
There’s no Xbox love for Lost Soul Aside at present. Only the PlayStation 5 and PC are getting full launches for Ultizero Games’ new action title. The size, scale, and sheer detail of Lost Soul Aside make me question if a future Switch 2 port is possible. But never say never!
Lost Soul Aside Editions & Price
Currently, a Lost Soul Aside Standard Edition ($59.99/£59.99) and Digital Deluxe Edition ($69.99/£69.99) are the only ones available to purchase.
Most new games come with at least three editions. That’s how I’ve been conditioned to think, so it shocks me when a AAA title only had a Standard and Deluxe Edition to choose from. It’s healthier on the wallet though.
