GSC Game World has revealed the notes for STALKER 2’s Patch 1.4, the latest major update to hit the irradiated, mutant-ridden title. It has been almost six months since STALKER 2 was released, and many are still neck-deep in the wasteland, enjoying the regular updates pushed out by GSC.
This latest patch introduces over 700 fixes and improvements, with the team stressing that combat is the main focus of this update. In the notes, I was humoured to see that one adjustment was to stop sausages from bleeding when being shot at.
It’s the little things that matter.
What’s New in STALKER 2 Patch 1.4?
The blurb for Patch 1.4 for STALKER 2 says everything you need to know:
It is time to take a look at what is new in Patch 1.4. It introduces various improvements and fixes to the game, including some big improvements to the combat AI. Let’s take a look at what changed and uncover what new tricks to expect from your enemies.
Mutants have been tweaked going into this patch, and they’ll now be more cautious and alert when a player approaches. They have new animations and certain enemies, such as the Burer, have new abilities. Human enemies have also been updated, and how they use cover, flank, and behave after a fight have changed.
The A-Life mechanics present in STALKER 2 have been adjusted, amending some erroneous behaviour traits, pathing elements, and combat tactics.
At the tail end of the breakdown of the 700+ fixes, GSC made a tongue-in-cheek statement that the following tweaks needed their own section:
- Fixed an issue where shooting at sausage props produced blood particles
- Fixed an issue where ducks could fly into the water after being shot at.
This is game-changing stuff, folks.
Oh, and if you’re using Razer peripherals and have reactive Chroma switched on, you’ll get new effects now for weapon jams and idle events. What a lovely touch.
