Escape from Tarkov has been around for almost ten years, and in that time, it has effortlessly waltzed into pole position in the extraction shooter space. It defined the genre and has evolved in the realm ever since, and last year, it finally became a ‘full game’, hitting 1.0 and undergoing a monumental transformation.
This year has proven to be a massive one for the game, with Battlestate Games unleashing a new map on the community, fresh ways to play, and an all-new seasons mechanic, amongst other things. But according to Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate, the team is only just getting started.
‘Expect Some Big Changes’
Nikita Buyanov, who we can arguably refer to as the face of Escape from Tarkov these days, recently appeared on social media (sporting a rather fetching shirt) responding to a series of pressing community-focused questions.
He spoke at length about Kord Breach, the game’s first multiplayer season, how the mechanics around it will evolve, and where things go from here.
According to Nikita, the future is incredibly bright for Escape from Tarkov, a game that has established itself at the top of the table in the extraction space.
He said:
This is a really, really great year for Tarkov. We’ve come up with a lot of things, and we’re working on a lot of things. We’re developing in every direction.
Expect some big changes, and expect some really interesting things.
Despite how long it’s been, we still know how to surprise you.
It’s a little vague, but Escape from Tarkov’s magic is in the intrigue and mystery of the evolution. Every so often, the team will come out with a sizeable blog post or a new episode of TarkovTV that outlines immense changes. Right now, the community is preparing for a massive overhaul of Lighthouse, probably the game’s worst map.
Beyond that, we’re looking at the likes of End of the Line, a new environment, another in-game season, and again, more ways to play and experience the crushing brutality of Escape from Tarkov.
