Keith David Is Zavala’s New VA Following Lance Reddick’s Death

Bungie has just revealed that the legendary Keith David will be stepping into a mighty big set of shoes to replace the late Lance Reddick as the voice actor of Destiny’s Commander Zavala. It has been stressed that Reddick’s existing lines won’t be re-recorded, but David will provide the English-speaking voice for Zavala in all future content, including the upcoming The Final Shape expansion.

Following Lance Reddick’s unexpected passing in March, a gaping hole was left in Destiny’s community – and in Horizon’s. Reddick was an iconic actor with an instantly recognisable voice, and his passing rocked the gaming industry.

Keith David is a Fine Replacement

David has a considerable legacy in the gaming business, having played characters in Mortal Kombat, Mass Effect, Halo, Saint’s Row, and many more titles besides. He spoke highly of Lance Reddick and of his new position as Commander Zavala’s voice actor:

I am honored to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala. Lance captured the character’s sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work.

Bungie released a statement revealing the appointment of Keith David as Zavala and spoke fondly of the team’s memories with Lance Reddick.

Are you happy with this change? Do you think there’s anyone else who could better step into Lance Reddick’s shoes?
