Following weeks of rumours, it has been officially announced that Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby in season two of HBO’s The Last of Us. The award-winning show is set to start production of its second season in the coming weeks, with episodes being released in 2025. It was never strictly confirmed, but this now indicates that the show’s second season will more or less follow the same structure as 2020’s The Last of Us Part II.
What Comes Next?
For fans of the video game franchise of the same name, knowing what comes next may be too much to bear. Those that are new to the franchise – don’t worry… It’s plain sailing ahead.
With Kaitlyn Dever being cast as Abby for season two of The Last of Us, the stage is set to see the next phase of the story unravel, following the Emmy-award-winning adventures of Joel and Ellie in the first season, which premiered on January 15, 2023, and ran until March 12, 2023. We won’t spoil too much about Abby’s involvement in the story, but she’s an integral part of The Last of Us Part II and is the catalyst for the explosion of an emotional and dramatic story.
This isn’t Kaitlyn Dever’s first outing with Naughty Dog, though. In 2016, she lent her acting talents to the role of Cassie in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Since then, Dever has starred in several movies, television shows, and other assorted productions.
