Despite being the third game remade from the stories and characters of Final Fantasy 7, Rebirth is not the third game in the storyline. You don’t count Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion as part of the main story; it’s just a spin-off tale in the same setting, and as such, people have questions. Is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth the last game in the trilogy?
Is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth The Last Game?
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a positively massive game with an expansive open world to explore, side quests to tackle, characters to meet, and an enthralling story to follow. But it’s not the end of the tale. Believe it or not, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is not the last game in the trilogy. It concludes where the original, way back in 1997, finished Disc 1.
In Rebirth, players can explore the surrounding landscape outside of Midgar, where Remake Intergrade took place in the first part of the remake trilogy. In Rebirth, we explore Kalm, Junon, Costa Del Sol, and even travel back in time to explore Nibelheim.
But it’s not the end of the road. We still have another Final Fantasy game on the way, though with Rebirth’s recent release, it’ll likely take some time before we start hearing details.

What Comes After Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
Back in the original Final Fantasy 7, without treading too deep into spoiler territory (But this is your warning, just in case!), Disc 2 continued the story and included adventures to The Forgotten Capital, Icicle Inn, Gaea’s Cliff, Mideel, and even back to Midgar.
But the remake trilogy isn’t following along precisely with the events told in the original game. As such, it’s hard to tell precisely where the third game in the trilogy will take players. We’ll have to wait for additional details from Square Enix!
