It was recently revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment had filed for a trademark on the name ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ in the United States, but nobody has any idea what that means. It has never been heard of before and there’s almost no information available on the filing, aside from the categories listed that the trademark applies to, such as ‘video game software’.
Is This a New Game?
As discovered by Gematsu, Sony has filed a trademark for what is assumed to be an all-new IP – but at present, the company hasn’t said anything further about the name. It was pointed out in social circles that in many cases, early names designated for games end up being changed over time. This was said in response to comments that ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ isn’t the most exciting name for a series of games.
As a term, the name lends itself to a sci-fi title rooted in an alternate reality or universe. It smacks of a futuristic title that’s almost paradoxical – a ‘Heretic Prophet’. That suggests a figure who both opposes an established religious doctrine and proclaims the will of a god.
