Hytale has plenty to discover along your journey, and a key part of progression is locating the Forgotten Temple and unlocking the Memories feature.
Even if you have the required materials, some recipes and items in Hytale cannot be unlocked without utilizing the Memories feature, so it’s important to tick off the unlock before you get too dug into the game, and Insider Gaming has the guide to follow.
Where to Find The Forgotten Temple in Hytale

The Forgotten Temple in Hytale is marked on your map and is located nearby to the initial spawn point in any created world, and should be visited as soon as possible.
When inside a world in Hytale, the navigation bar at the top of the screen displays a few crucial waypoints, including for wherever you have set a bed and any death markers. While those are added as and when required by the game, the market for the Forgotten Temple is indicated the moment you log into the world for the first time.
The marker for the Forgotten Temple looks like a teleporter, shown in the image above. The shape includes a small white circle, surrounded by four arrow-like shapes.
While the location won’t be far from your initial spawn point, it’s still worth gearing up before you embark on the journey, as there’s a high chance you will encounter hostile mobs, including Bears, Wolves, Skeletons, and more. A basic weapon will suffice, along with a decent chunk of food.
When you get closer to the Forgotten Temple, keep an eye out for an opening in the ruined building, which is your route inside and has a statue waiting near the entrance. From there, head down the stairs on the left, and head towards the blue portal underground.
Be wary of the angry Golem protecting the entrance, as it will attack you, but it won’t follow you through the portal, so you can quickly charge past it without any issues.
How to Restore Memories in Hytale
Before you can restore Memories in Hytale, you must interact with the Heart of Orbis. This special statue is directed opposite you when you enter the teleporter, surrounded by plinths.
Follow the pathway down past the creatures and NPCs within the Forgotten Temple, walk up to the Heart of Orbis, which should emit a blue glow as you approach it. Interact with the Heart of Orbis by hitting ‘F’ on your keyboard, and a message pops up in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
The message states the Memories feature has been unlocked, and you can now collect Memories from creatures, NPCs, hostile enemies, and more in your adventures. To do this, you only need to be within a close proximity to them, and a small, blue light will travel from them to you, with an indication in the bottom right of your screen telling you which Memory has been collected.
To record Memories, you must return to the Heart of Orbis in the Forgotten Temple and hit the button that shows at the bottom of the window. Periodically, rewards will be unlocked with your progression, including new items to craft, the ability to have additional Teleporters, and more.
