There are three new Naval Officers to unlock in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, with each one offering a unique buff to the Jackdaw as you engage in open-sea warfare.
One of them is the Master Gunner, who goes by the name Tobias Smith, though the crew refer to him as Deadman. He provides a major upgrade for the Jackdaw’s attack, but it’s not so obvious how you unlock him, as you need to meet a very specific criterion to unearth his unique quest.
Thankfully, we’ve got it all figured out. Here’s how to unlock the Master Gunner Deadman, one of the three new Naval Officers, in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
How To Unlock Master Gunner In Black Flag Resynced
If you want to unlock the Master Gunner for the Jackdaw, you must make significant progress into the game.
Unlike the other two Naval Officers, you need to put in a lot more work to get your hands on Deadman. Firstly, you need to complete Sequence 11: Everything Is Permitted, which will open the doors to a new chain of side quests, A World Without Gold.
From here, you need to work your way through said quest line until you complete the side quest A World Without Gold: I Just Want To Talk. It’ll become fairly obvious that Deadman is joining the crew, and you’ll quickly gain access to a major upgrade to the Jackdaw.
What Does The Master Gunner Do In Black Flag Resynced?
Once you’ve unlocked the Master Gunner as an Officer for the Jackdaw, you’ll be rewarded with a new upgrade to your Broadside Cannons, named Extra Salvo.
This one might seem simple in nature, but it’s a game changer when it comes to naval combat. With Extra Salvo, both Broadside Cannons will fire one extra time per attack, after a short delay.
Now, if you manage to keep your targets lined up in your sights after the first volley, a second one will follow up, dealing just as much damage. Sure, it might mean you remain in the line of fire for longer, but that’s the price you’ll have to pay to deal even more damage.
