Pokémon HOME will soon facilitate the linking of FireRed and LeafGreen, and players can celebrate that new functionality with a free Lv. 50 Celebi. It’s a relatively simple process, and it goes live on October 7. When the FireRed and LeafGreen link pops up in Pokémon HOME, you’ll be free to boot up your Switch or Switch 2 console and secure your free Celebi.
This long-awaited compatibility update will finally mean you can transfer Pokémon from FireRed and LeafGreen to Pokémon HOME, and from there, you can take them into other compatible Pokémon games. Such portability!
Read on to learn how you can get your free FireRed and LeafGreen Celebi on October 7.
When Will FireRed and LeafGreen Come To Pokémon HOME?
FireRed and LeafGreen, both of which have been around for more than twenty years, will finally come to Pokémon HOME on October 7. The application will go offline from around 00:00 to 06:00 UTC to roll out the Pokémon HOME 4.1.0 update, which introduces the FireRed and LeafGreen link.
This link is the core element of this update, and almost nothing else is bundled with it.
As with other compatibility updates like this, you’ll be free to move Pokémon from FireRed and LeafGreen to other games, but once that’s done, you cannot move them back. Make sure you’re making the right decision!

How to Get Free Celebi on October 7
To unlock your free Lv. 50 Celebi in Pokémon HOME, you’ll need to complete the Kanto Pokédex. It’s an automated process, so as long as you’ve ticked that box, you’ll be able to pop into the Pokémon HOME mobile app and claim your free Celebi.
Many fans have noted that you can complete this task with the ‘full’ Pokédex even though you can’t obtain FireRed and LeafGreen’s Mew. Fear not, as Mew isn’t needed to unlock Celebi.
It’s probably the easiest Mythical Pokémon unlock you’ll ever experience.
