Borderlands 4 has an unreal amount of guns, but there’s only one Hazard Pay weapon skin to claim. Even if you don’t tinker with guns or designs, it’s better to have the exclusive Hazard Pay weapon skin, as not having it might make you go Psycho.
The long wait for Borderlands 4 is over. Its on-brand recipe of humor, hilarity, and hellacious violence is on full display. Outside of the odd issue with compiling shaders or the community’s gripes with stuttering, the heart of a classic Borderlands game beats within.
Before you even start Borderlands 4, you have the chance to earn the Hazard Pay weapon skin.
How To Claim Hazard Pay Skin in Borderlands 4
You need to have a valid SHiFT account, verify the email address, and sign up for newsletters and notifications from 2K and Gearbox to be eligible for the Hazard Pay weapon skin in Borderlands 4.
Upon booting up Borderlands 4 for the first time, you’ll no doubt see the prompt in the bottom-left corner of the screen advertising the free Hazard Pay weapon skin. However, it took us a solid few minutes to figure out how to claim it!
These things are never as simple as they should be, hence why we’ve provided specific instructions for you to follow:
- From the Borderlands 4 home screen, click on the Hazard Pay weapon skin advert.
- Wait for the platform’s built-in browser to load the SHiFT page.
- Either create a SHiFT account or log in to your existing one.
- Once you’ve done this, you should now be on your profile page—like the screenshot above.
- If you haven’t already, click on the Verify Email option under Profile.
- When the email is sent, log in to that email address and verify the email address.
- Now, go back to your SHiFT account again.
- Go to Gaming Platforms on the left-hand sidebar.
- Double-check that your SHiFT account is linked to your platform and account.
- With this done, go to Other, and tick to say you “Would like to receive news and promotional messages from 2K and its affiliates” and “I wish to stay subscribed to the Gearbox newsletter.”
- If you’ve done all of this correctly, the blue box at the top should change to confirm you’ll receive the Hazard Pay weapon skin in Borderlands 4!
What is The Hazard Pay Skin Bonus in Borderlands 4?
Quite simply, Hazard Pay is a weapon skin you can apply to your guns to make them more stylish.
It’s not an XP bonus, it’s not a new gun, and it won’t speed up your Borderlands 4 progress in any way. It’s simply a cosmetic flourish—but a very cool one.
