How to Download Minecraft on PC

In this guide, we’ll be showing you how to download Minecraft for the PC. Getting the right version of Minecraft on the PC is incredibly important and luckily, downloading the game is now easier than ever.

First things first, you’ll need to buy Minecraft before you can download it.

Where to Buy Minecraft on PC

There are currently two different places where you can buy Minecraft on the PC. The first is on the official Minecraft website (click here), and the second is on the official Microsoft website (click here).

For those looking to buy the base game, which now includes Minecraft: Java Edition, Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and the Minecraft launcher, it will set you back $29.99 USD. For those looking for a bit more, you can opt for the Deluxe edition for $39.99, which includes:

  • Minecraft: Java Edition
  • Minecraft: Bedrock Edition
  • Minecraft Launcher
  • 1600 Minecoins
  •  5 Maps
  • 5 Persona Items
  • 3 Emotes
  • 3 Skin Packs
  • 1 Texture Pack

Can I download Minecraft on PC for Free?

Unfortunately, Minecraft is a paid game. However, those with a PC Game Pass subscription can play the game for “free” with the subscription. You can try Minecraft on PC with the PC Game Pass for $1 (click here).

How to Download Minecraft on PC

After purchasing either Minecraft or the PC Game Pass, you should not be able to download the Minecraft Launcher. Once the Minecraft Launcher is installed, you can now select which Minecraft version you’d like to download. There’s two versions of Minecraft, which are:

  • Minecraft: Java Edition
  • Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

Both of these editions are included with your purchase of Minecraft, and from here, you just need to decide which version you’d like to play.

There have been endless debates on which version is better, but for simplicity’s sake, I would suggest Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for those wanting to play with a controller on PCs and with lower-grade computers and Minecraft: Java Edition for those who have a more powerful computer and want a large section of different multiplayer servers.

One thing to note: Minecraft: Bedrock Edition does include a paid marketplace where players can buy cosmetic items for real-life money; Minecraft: Java Edition does not. This might be an important factor for those with children.

But, there you have it. Once you have successfully downloaded Minecraft on the PC, you should be able to play the game by accessing Minecraft via the Minecraft Launcher.
