Helldivers 2 is “never” going to have PvP (player versus player) added to the game. That’s what the CEO of developer Arrowhead Game Studios said on Wednesday in a post on Twitter.
In a reply to a fan who brought up stealing players away from Call of Duty by adding PvP, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt said that it’ll never happen due to the toxicity it can bring.
“Hey; We’ll “never” add a PvP-mode,” he said. “This is to reduce toxic elements from the community.
“We want an environment that’s supportive, fun and where we all are fighting on the same side!”
After another person responded saying the developer was “scared” to add PvP into Helldivers 2, Pilestedt doubled down and reiterated he didn’t want toxicity in the game.
“Not scared,” he said. “Just we don’t want the toxicity that naturally comes with it. There are plenty, actually most, games that provide PvP. We make games for people that just want to have a challenging time with friends but in a PvE setting.”
Helldivers 2 has been one of the biggest success stories of early 2024. The game released on February 8, and quickly became PlayStation Studios’ most successful PC launch of all time, surpassing 200,000 concurrent players on Steam.
