In a new post on Twitter/X, Arrowhead Game Studios confirmed that Helldivers 2’s new Viper Commandos Warbond will drop on June 13.
According to a corresponding PlayStation blog, the Viper Commandos warbond will add new weapons, armor, and more.
That includes a new triple-barrel sawed-off shotgun that players can use as a secondary weapon, and a brand-new throwing knife. There’s also a modified AR-23A Liberator Carbine.
The fresh armor will feature the PH-9 Predator and PH-202 Twigsnapper. Viper Commandos will also include various new cosmetics and an Experimental Infusion booster. Notably, Helldivers 2 is also introducing customization with vehicle patterns.
In a series of follow-up tweets from today’s thread, Arrowhead Game Studios also issued a statement about its overall approach to Warbonds.
The devs explained they are “slowing down the pace at which we release Warbonds,” to ensure they’re more polished at launch. The team will confirm a new timeframe for Helldivers 2 Warbonds “in the future,” likely following Viper Commandos.
The developer also said they will adjust “the arrangement of items in each Warbond to make room for new item types, and also higher quality armor and weapons.”
Just weeks ago, Arrowhead Game Studios appointed a new CEO, with Shams Jorjani taking the role. Johan Pilestedt will still be Chief Creative Officer, stating they wanted to place “100% of my focus on the games and community.”
